Our History
Rix Cargo Solutions is a key part of the Rix Group, which has been in the shipping industry since 1873, originating in the Humber on the North East coast. Our roots were established in Scotland in 1958 when Rix Shipping Ltd began carrying limestone and chalk from Whitby to North Eastern Scottish ports. In the ‘60s, Rix shipped lime from the Humber to Montrose to support the Scottish agricultural market. J.M. Piggins Ltd discharged the lime onto the Montrose port side. Rix then purchased this business and formed Piggins Rix Ltd which later became Rix Shipping (Scotland) Ltd.
Over the last 67 years, our service offerings have grown considerably. As a 6th generation family owned business, we pride ourselves on delivering specific and bespoke cargo handling, storage and shipping solutions for our business partners. Our dedicated team are engaged in building long term relationships with our customers to deliver a ‘one-stop’ cargo handing solution.
